Bemerkung: Katy Abbott (2001): The inspiration behind this piece comes from the sculptures of Michelangelo's sculptures Four Prisoners / Quattro Prigioni that date from ca.1521 -1523 and are housed in Florence, Italy at the Galleria 'Dell Accademia. I recall being shocked when viewing the sculptures due to the raw power I perceived them to muster as they try to escape the marble block. The music tries to capture the inseparability of the prisoner and the marble, the textural differences within the sculpture but also the wrought emotion portrayed by the figures. https://www.australianmusiccentre.com.au/workversion/abbott-katy-making-angels/12109.
